Berwick town walls and harbour. To the far left is Coxon's Tower and the lighthouse can be see to the far right. The walls are amongst the best preserved town defences in Britain.

The town of Berwick viewed from across the harbour in Tweedmouth. The town walls were built in the 14th Century by Edward I to protect the town from the Scots.
Berwick lighthouse was built in 1826 at which time Berwick upon Tweed was an important trading town. The tower is stone built and 13 meters tall.
The breakwater of Berwick harbour was extended in 1810 - 11 and so a lighthouse was required. The lighthouse was subsequently built in 1826.
